The Hatter

So, on this weeks episode of "Have you ever heard of this random fandom of mine?"... The Mad Hatter!

My favorite Alice in Wonderland fanfic, Sunny Disposish ([link]) updated recently, and let me tell you... it's always worth the wait. It's also kinda difficult to explain exactly what's going on in the story. Put simply, Alice returns to the Wonderland to solve a mystery and finds herself in the very good, if slightly mad, company of a different Hatter than she remembers.

Re-reading the whole thing really made me start thinking about how I envision the the Hatter in Val's story differently than the one of Bri-chan's comic When Curiosity Met Insanity. So here you have my take on him. While the characters have a lot of similarities, Val's Hatter has a few wilder characteristics that set him apart from the oh-so-charming Reginald Theophilus the Third. He's also quite serious under that manic exterior.

I'm not sure why he came out looking THIS serious... but the drawing just kinda went that way so I ran with it. I hope that if you've read the story, the background sort of makes sense and if it doesn't, I'll just say that in the fic Alice is referred to with a lot of lunar metaphors, and the Hatter gravitates towards descriptions full of light and energy. I hope that I'll find time to do an Alice to go with this one. It was tons of fun.
